Oh for those of you you don't know what is going on here. I have a significant medical issue that impacts me on many levels. I have decided to get out and do somethings. If you want to know more about my medical issue you can visit my website by clicking here https://sites.google.com/site/dollarb58/

Yellowstone Part One

Linda finally made it out to Utah and we headed up to Yellowstone the next day.  Very limited cell and internet service in the Park (also no TV or radio).  We got to the campsite and got set up.  The next day we went on a full day bus tour call the Ring of Fire tour.  Most of the Park sits on top of a super volcano and there are lots of geothermal spots.  It will be some big mess when that one decides to blow.   It was a long day but we saw a lot of the Park (see the pictures below).

Yellowstone was a bit different then I had imagined and it takes a while to get into the flow of the park.  It is a really large park and you need to drive long ways to get get around the Park.  It also has many, many hiking trails.

We stayed at the Courtyard by the airport instead of a Walmart

Stuck in Utah

I have been in Utah for three days.  I arrived on Thursday and went to Ogden to pick up my new pontoon fishing boat.  Whoops it was not ready.  Waiting around most of Friday and finally got the boat and worked on putting it together and taking it apart.  It is all good and look for pics fishing at Yellowstone in the coming days.  Linda was scheduled to arrive today around 1:30 PM.  Her flights got all screwed up so we have to stay over in Salt Lake tonight.  Hopefully we will get up to Yellowstone tomorrow mid-day.

Here are some pics from the trip

Go West !!

Horace Greeley's immortal words.

I started out on my new adventure on Monday morning.

Mostly driving so far with overnight stops in South Bend IN, Someplace in Nebraska and today in Rawlins WY.

Headed to Salt Lake City for a few days and then my wife Linda is joining me (she is flying out).  Linda and I will camp for a week in Yellowstone Park and then up to Grand Teton for a week (staying in two different hotels).  Linda then heads home and I go to Dubois, WY to fish the Wind River for a week.  Then to Yosemite for a few days and then onto the Grand Canyon.  After that down to Beau Bridge, LA to visit my friend Carl and then work my way home.

There will be lots of fishing and hopefully some fish.  Also hiking and lots of pics etc.

I will keep you posted.  Oh we also have a second mascot from my mom (see below).

You Can't always get what you want but if you try, sometimes you get what need

Lake Placid Ironman 2011

OK so I admit it.   It was not a great idea to try to do an ironman while on treatment for my cancer.  When I started training back in January I really did not think I would be able to get to the starting line.  However my training went much better than I originally planned.  By the end of June I was feeling pretty confident after my trip up to Lake Placid.  During July I started to lose some of my stamina and was definitely declining physically.

I got to the starting line and eventually the finish line some 15 1/2 hours later.  I am not really sure why it happened but I got very bad cramping in my legs and arms.  I think it was mainly due to the medication triggered by stress and the 3 week week taper leading up to the race.  Anyway the cramps hurt a lot and they slowed me down but I finished.

Linda, Kelly and Jenny drove up to see me and Alex and Meg were there as well.  It was great to have them all cheering me on.

And that is all I have to say about that.
